Principle of Operation

The Haimo MPFM is a combination of a gas/liquid two-phase (in-line) flow meter and a full-range three-phase water cut meter. The gas/liquid flow rate measurement and water cut determination are carried out independent of each other.ents.

The gas/liquid two phase flow meter consists of a Venturi and two identical single (59.5 KeV) gamma sensors. The full range three-phase water cut meter comprises a dual energy (22 and 59.5 KeV) gamma sensor and a flow conditioner located upstream.

Both the gas and liquid flow rates are measured upstream of the flow conditioner in the two-phase flow meter, which is in-line without needs of any flow conditioning or separation. The Dual gamma meter measures the water cut.

Net oil flow rate is finally calculated based on the gross liquid and watercut.

The Untold secret about net oil measurement

Net oil flow rate accuracy depends on watercut. All multiphase meters calculate the net oil flow rate from the measured watercut and the gross liquid rates. The higher the watercut and worse the abs. accuracy of the watercut, the poorer is the net oil flow rate in accuracy.

By measuring within a consistent band of ± 2% watercut abs. for 0-100% watercut and 0-99.8% GVF, Haimo meters by and large provide the most accurate solution for the full range of watercut and GVF.
